  • Overview

Coronary atherosclerosis is a diffuse vascular process and a life-long disease where optimal medical therapy is the foundation for all patients with CAD. Primary PCI is the preferred therapy in STEMI and early angiography, followed by revascularization, the preferred therapy in NSTEACS. In stable ischemic heart disease, therapy must be individualized for each patient whether PCI, CABG or an initial MT approach is chosen.
